How to prepare for CDS

Make sure you're all set for the switch to the Customs Declaration Service

Are you ready for HMRC's new system?

There are big changes coming to the way import and export declarations are lodged in the UK. In September 2022 HMRC will switch off the current CHIEF imports service, meaning all declarations must be lodged via the new Customs Declaration Service (CDS) from then on.

CHIEF exports will be switched off six months later at the end of March 2023.

Switching to CDS is a major project that presents some serious challenges for shippers. That's why we've prepared a series of Client Advisory documents to guide you through the process.
