Reducing the Prevalence of Water-Borne Disease in Zambia

Charles Kendall is assisting to combat one of Zambia’s most binding constraints to economic growth.

As Procurement Agent for a $354m US Government programme in Zambia, Charles Kendall is assisting to combat one of Zambia’s most binding constraints to economic growth through infrastructure investment in Lusaka, the rapidly urbanizing capital. The programme is investing in water supply, sanitation and drainage infrastructure with the goal of decreasing the incidence and prevalence of water-borne disease, productive days lost due to disease and time to collect water, cost of water and new sanitation, and business and residential flood losses. Our efforts in Zambia are expected to benefit over 1.2million in addition to improving the financial sustainability and social inclusion of the Lusaka Water Supply and Sewage Company’s processes.
