Piping for Remembrance

Monday 14th November 2011

For the past five years, Emerald Society of Pipes & Drums from the Metropolitan Police Service, have played for the Remembrance weekend services as a memorial and tribute to the fallen in the two World Wars, but predominantly to the Irish who fell. This year Arthur Govan of Charles Kendall Procurement in Albert Court joined around 45 other band members to march and play bagpipes with the band in Ypres, Belgium. They paraded to the Menin Gate for the last post ceremony on Saturday evening, laying a wreath at the memorial.  On the Sunday they also visited the Irish Peace Park where Arthur, along with a fellow piper, played a lament. Wednesday 2nd March 2011

Charles Kendall Freight, Dubai have handled and completed the documentation for the first of two urgent shipments of humanitarian aid for Libyan families displaced to Tunisia due to the ongoing crisis in the region.

100 tons of tents and blankets donated by a western government are moving by a chartered 747 aircraft from Dubai to Tunisia.

The Freight division was this week, praised in the industry press for taking proactive action to improve freight security beyond even the basic legal DFT requirements.  As well as enhanced staff training, they have introduced a 24hour employee hot-line, maintain the highest level of AEO status and are one of the only companies in the UK to have X-ray facilities at both North and South hubs based at London and Manchester respectively.  Furthermore, they do not accept cargoes from any party with whom they do not already have a relationship – whether by air or ocean.  Read the news as reported in the Heathrow Skyport and the IFW.
