1st November 2012 marked London's attempt to raise £1 million for the Royal British Legion in the build up to this year's forthcoming Rememberance Sunday. Courtesy of Oliver Blake, Albert Court were extremely privileged to have two members from the Intelligence Corp visit the offices. As reservists they support a number of other units and establishments within British Defence. Staff made extremely generous donations and were delighted to be part of such a worthwhile cause. After a hot cup of coffee, their next destination was St James' Park. Additionally Rebecca Ward, of Exosphere, was at Clapham Junction station at 6.30am selling knitted poppies to commuters.

The latest 007 Bond Film Premiere took place at The Royal Albert Hall last night, giving our Albert Court staff a ringside view of the special event. Skyfall marks the 50th anniversary of the film franchise. The glitzy evening drew large crowds of people cheering the stars on the red carpet, which stretched along the streets around the venue and of course, our office. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were in attendance along with actors Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench, additional co-stars, celebrity guests and the paparazzi. Jenny Laidlaw from Consulting in London and Jess Macdonald from Group Marketing have both been involved as volunteers in the 2012 Olympics. Jenny was one of 300 audience leaders, responsible for getting the audience involved in lighting special effects and teaching the audience various dances and moves during the athlete’s parade. She also got to carry the Oman flag around the stadium during one of the dress rehearsals which seemed quite fitting. Our new marketing intern Jess worked as a Game Maker for events at ExCel, a task she applied for when still in her teens - now that's forward planning!

From crossfire to ceasefire, the sands of change are still rolling across Libya and heralding in a new era for this troubled country. Daily life is becoming easier. Commercial Flights are arriving in and out of Libya’s main airports with LH, AZ, RJ, Air Malta, Turkish, Etihad and Qatar Airlines having regular flights. AF and BA will follow. Communication links exist between east and west. The internet is working. It is difficult to access cash from the banks and there are numerous power cuts in all parts. There is however a genuine enthusiasm and quiet optimism that the infrastructure can be fixed provided that Justice, Security and Democratic elections prevail. Read more on the Show Carriage website.
