On-Site Compressor Packing
Our Packing department provided on-site packing for a very large compressor skid package.
The Situation
We were asked to provide on-site packing for a very large compressor skid package. At nearly 12 metres long and 6 metres wide and with a weight of 50 tonnes it presented several challenges, not least of which was getting the case from our facility at Feltham to the customer’s premises.
The Solution
Working with the customer’s technical department we designed a case which could be pre-made at Feltham then dismantled for transport purposes and re-assembled on site, thereby eliminating any wide load requirements and minimising transport costs.
We provided a full risk assessment and method statement to comply with all Health and Safety requirements and took care of all the plant hire requirements to enable safe working.
Results
Over a period of six days on site we based and packed the entire package, working around lifting eyes and providing inspection hatches where necessary to comply with the end users packing specification.
